(ER012) Pulveratricious – It’s A Horrible Drone!
When I received “It’s A Horrible Drone!” by the alienating, vapid, mold-sodomizing project “Pulveratricious” of previous Effluvia notoriety (microscopic notoriety that is), I expected to get my album title’s worth. I anticipated without the slightest shaving of doubt that I would be annihilated by an unchanging jarring atonal totality. A discordant, monotonous square wave that pierces your ears offering no dynamic. I envisioned it’s creation. I know the disturbing and estranging genius of Pulveratricious. I know his distaste for everything you, the reader, stands for. I imagined a rock resting upon his keyboard, pissing off the neighbors with a wall of TONE while he enjoyed his pet rats and excessive coffee dosages. I knew this is what I would hear. I am no prophet! What actually unfurls in this masterpiece, that is to patient ears, is slow and sure evolution. Pulveratricious was present during this creation, slowly modulating this vast monolithic terrain. No progress, no sir. The minimalism of this drone puts Acre, Tony Conrad, Saito Koji, and to a lesser extent Vomir to shame. This piece is looooong! Almost two hours! Despite this, it is absolutely indispensable to listen to it in one sitting, but prepare for a challenge! It puts minimalism into a beautiful light! I recommend you take Pulveratricious’ spiteful and hateful hand and descend into a world that transcends the hate flaming in the mind. I came from it trembling!
