(ER072) Fault Artist – Untitled

From the mind of Michal Szewczynski, the creator of the prior release on Effluvia by Lameonim, has for us today a significantly disorienting and bizarre field recording focused work, with a unique execution of a difficult thing to convey, the feelings of dissociative drugs through abstract sounds of nature and humanity. A large sum of us have listened to many albums interpreting psychedelic invocations. Either albums are created following revelations from such cerebral escapading (myself included) and some records try to interpret that liquified ebbing and flowing harmony that things like lsd and psychedelic mushrooms concoct. This release covers a different psychoactive state of mind, that of dextramathorphan, the active ingredient of Robittusin and other cough syrups. If you down an entire bottle or two, you experience a longlasting dissociative trip similar to Ketamine. Unlike psychedelics, a proper way to interpret such “trips” would be much more disorienting and discordant. Overwhelming bodily sensations made flesh through shape shifting external stimuli, flashbulbing in and out of focus in an abrupt and inconsistent symphony. Mind rising above matter while, simultaneously, matter overcomes the mind in a sort of heavyweight lightness. Moving through feverish flashes of nausea of orgasm-like euphoria, sublimation, evaporation, and condensation all enacting strange celestial theater, all within a heavily distorted view of everyday reality. Delusions, revelations, and an idiosyncratic illness. (Once I drank two bottles of the stuff and couldn’t hold it down so I vomited, but in my head I was a nimbus cloud raining blood upon a cataclysmic ocean filled with sinking vessels… I suppose). Fault Artist, the name Szewczynski operates under this time around, captures it through lobit sound tremendously using only sounds of nature. Roaring waves of abrasive traffic with gusts of tremendous pseudo-wind. Muttering voices speaking in tongues, worshipping God’s of some unfocused delirious reality that dreams sing about, dogs yelping, acousmatic crunches and booms, with a deep lurking music hiding beneath it all. Take the dose, fuck with your liver, and enjoy altering the levels of glutamate throughout the brain with this great artistic feat.

Emanate the residue, my friends. All foundations have dismantled. The veils have all lifted. The stench of rot is in the air. Breathe in the aroma deeply, my friends. You, a fellow secreter of radiance and soul. Let us dissolve reality and float about in the primordial world where everything imaginable comes to pass. Come, transcend the mud by digging into it. My friends, let us bask in the effluvia of it all!
