(ER076) NOISE Community – Otherness
What a time to be alive for artists! The term Avant Garde… Let us muse on this for a moment. The term literally represents the vanguard, that is to say, those soldiers who advance whereas the main forces stay behind. While these Avant Garde fighters of war storm No Man’s land to detect potential fates for the military women and men while those left behind dwell in wait, forced only to stare upon the terrain of coming warfare, fearing the future and awaiting the return of the Avant Garde. The twentieth century, though I saw little of it, saw itself a blossoming of vanguard risk takers transcending and rising above the status quo, into the future of art, of language, of dreaming, of thought. This new century still faces, like a dreaded plagued exponential growth, a fierce and worrisome wall of mainstream insipidity. Often aggresively puerile, the conformist cookie cutter art that sparks inspiration and glee in the heads of gadget fondling contradictory caricatures, procreating and spawning through some smog stunted incest to create abominations like Nicki Minage. Despite this, the growth in experimental, abstract, surreal, dada, minimalist, musique concrete, ambient, drone, and then our beloved NOISE sound environments (as well as the growth of a similar consistency in other formats) is astonishing, and has spread to the minds of innumerable brilliant thinkers, all with different ideas, but all coexisting to create things with so much personality and originality as to spark imagination in us unlike anything previous generations could have expected. The camaraderie that has ensued from the growth of new ideas and music with the greater ease to expose yourself or come across the exposure of others (not to say that making this art is easy). Compilations, collaborations, netlabel specials, and then things like this. “Otherness” is a masterpiece of visual and audio expertise. The video was created by Cesar Naves, and it is simply brilliant. Looking up into the night sky and seeing your screaming paradoxical psyche blotting out the stars. Oh the glitches and textures and the complexities of this video. Human figures dissolving, particles fluttering about, sometimes in organized sequence, sometimes very much not so, strobing sporadic filters incomprehensibly crafted to create a truly wonderful versatile interpretation of the song that accompanies it. And oh what a song that is. A song by ____ different artists, all with their own strain of sounds but coming together through the masterful coming together by Tomasso Busatto, who is the headmaster of NOISE Community, where this premiered, and oh may the constellations bless this community for its hard work and beautiful ideas and live experiences. The song goes in a million directions, all cacophonous and harsh and beautiful, some you can dance to, and some so bizarre and fresh as to almost overwhelm you. I give special thanks to all the artists who contributed, 185668232, Alien Sea Fume, Attila777, Brownian Motion, Cesar Naves, Corazzata Valdemone, Corroded Master, Frozen Memory, Ganglion_Cyst, Halluciphile, Iky Iky, Lezet, Marax, Mousey The Elephant, Nos Project, Oni Oba, Otto Von Rhinau, Problem Anderer Leute, Psycoton, Rafael Gonzalez, Raven, Ronny Waernes, The Implicit Order, Third I, Tommaso Busatto, Trans Atlantic Rage, & Zreen Toyz.
