(ER088) Steam Flow – White Desert
The desert is white. Blinding and glistening with mirages so obscure as if enshrouded in fog. So overwhelming, we lose ourselves in our wondering. our eyes and ears and nerves floating through this all pervading shine, so colorless. our bodies lose themselves for a little while. The night takes hold, and yet its so supernaturally bright. In this trance we forget. Forget what? Forget that there is an artist at work, creating this world. What a world! What a world! Steam flow, a name that contributes to his cause of disappearing into his ambient elixir, leaving you alone with his brilliant sounds. The vibe of these pieces is that of intimacy with what you are hearing, deep deep listening! Not emotional vapid but still inhabiting empty space with an eerie minimalism, but this ambiance is not the backdrop music-for-airports melodies you loop while attending to all of them humanly matters, nay! They hold you attentive in their wake. You linger into forgetfulness but there these sounds are still, breathing softly behind you and before you, moistening your hair and face with their breaths, their ebbing and flowing, their magnificence. They fill the room and venture into catacombs and caverns of unsettling soundscapes, so very deliberately achieved and realized! Oh I could tell you tales aplenty, of where these tracks took me, and of stories they echoed to me, ancient stories at that, but the palette of these sounds is that of broadness, white like an empty palette, and as you wander this white desert, may you hallucinate countless shivering illusions in the distant ripples. Distant ripples governed by a great, veiled musical mind, But oh these sounds may as well have mumbled through the mantle of this planet of early morning blue dreaming.
