(ER090) mhz_ – 30-04-2012

This album is not for the easily ached. The ached best stay far away from here. We  celebrate the 90th release on Effluvia with one of the most aggressively vehement and abrasive noise records you’re likely to find. And that isn’t to say it’s bad. Actually, every moment is just brilliant. Brilliant in an unfamiliar, scary place. Startling and bone cracking, the textures from mhz_ put your ears to your test, at least if you are one who seeks the adventurous side to sonic shrillness. These tracks emit auras that are not to be enjoyed, that is to say flat out. Sure, this album will hold you, excite you, but I cannot guarantee an easy ride. This release will darken your day or toughen you up, but I ask you please to endure it, because the artistic triumph that is this record is to be found by listening carefully to each piece, which are themselves incredibly dynamic in length and feel. Here, mhz_ operates under several pseudonyms, including mhz12, which he claims is alluding to how he experimented with sounds at the age of twelve. Like the riveting artwork suggests, the pieces of this album are so very very contradictory and sporadic. Harsh frequencies will invade your head most suddenly amidst grating, heavyweight terrains of industrial hums, buzzes, screams. Even the near silent sounds are hellishly physical, they implode inside your head. As the album progresses, and your pulsating head has been thrown to and fro, more longform pieces of fever dreaming comes in, so malleable and dissociated. And though their movement is more subliminal, our head has learned too greatly from the prior noise efforts, which suck the emotion inside us to a vapid extract of sorts and replaces feeling with a sort of hallucinogenic implication that we are nothing but nerves moving among eroding stone hurdling through outer space. You fly inside yourself, ravaged like a moth, into this dynamic experience. Is everypony in? Is everypony in? The party of one is about to begin.

Emanate the residue, my friends. All foundations have dismantled. The veils have all lifted. The stench of rot is in the air. Breathe in the aroma deeply, my friends. You, a fellow secreter of radiance and soul. Let us dissolve reality and float about in the primordial world where everything imaginable comes to pass. Come, transcend the mud by digging into it. My friends, let us bask in the effluvia of it all!
